NVFMA Open 911 Emergency Autopatch

The NVFMA repeaters that have auto patches also have an open 911 emergency autopatch.  The open 911 autopatch does not require the members only autopatch code to be entered.  All users of the repeater have access to the 911 emergency autopatch, not just NVFMA members.

Using the 911 emergency autopatch is easy if the steps below are followed exactly.  As always, if you have difficulty placing a call, call a NVFMA board member for assistance.  Before placing a call, users are encouraged to do a signal check using the S-meter or DVR feature of repeaters equipped to do so.  This will avoid situations where a station moves out of range during the call and cannot properly terminate the patch.

1.       If you are using the 224.100 repeater, bring up the 146.790 link using the appropriate procedures.

2.       Identify your station clearly and announce that you are about to bring up the autopatch.  Note that control operators will terminate an autopatch if no station identification is heard.

3.       Using your DTMF pad, send the emergency 911 autopatch code 911 and release your PTT switch.

4.       The repeater will announce “Autopatch” and pause for two seconds.

5.   When the 911 operator answers, inform the operator that you are a mobile radio operator and that you are not located in the Massey Building or at Tyson's Corner, unless you are really in those locations.

6.   Give the operator the emergency information.  If you need a jurisdiction other than Fairfax County, ask the 911 operator to transfer you to the appropriate jurisdiction.

7.       Complete your phone call.

8.       Terminate the call by sending a single #  .

9.       Identify yourself and indicate that you are clear of the autopatch.
